National Holiday 2025

The weather was particularly kind to us this year. In radiant autumn weather, numerous visitors found their way to us to celebrate the National Holiday together — traditionally also the memorial day for our founder, Margrave Leopold the Strong.
This year, the festive mass was celebrated by the newly appointed Abbot President Pius Maurer, Abbot of Lilienfeld Abbey. The musical arrangement was once again provided by Gertrud Zwicker, who sang Mozart’s Spatzenmesse with the “Pro ecclesia” choir. The choir was accompanied by the Reiner Quartett.
The highlight, as every year, was the Klangwolke (sound cloud) composed especially for this holiday by Rudolf Bodingbauer, this year performed by the Graz North Brass Band Association under the direction of district bandmaster Franz Kniepeiss.
We are very pleased that so many friends and supporters of Stift Rein have come again to celebrate this day with us and to spend this honorable day together in the abbey courtyard with monastery soup and Leopoldi bread.
