Become a book sponsor
Among the many valuable books and unique archival materials, there are also quite a few “patients” who have suffered damage over the centuries due to use or external influences. The late Graz Mayor Alfred Stingl initiated this, and P. August Janisch has already been able to find many book sponsors. Since 2004, Reiner Bücher Paten has been helping us and covering the costs of such a restoration. This helps Stift Rein to preserve this old cultural asset. A leaflet is enclosed with the “godchild” and the book sponsors are immortalized. A certificate after completion of the restoration will then identify you as a Reiner Bücher Paten.
By the end of 2021, 268 people, companies, and associations – some several times – had enabled Stift Rein to heal over 500 “patients”.
Restoration
The preservation of such historical documents is a major task. This makes it all the more important to have competent partners. Mag. Gudrit Sixl, who has carried out a large part of the book restorations, says: “As a book and paper restorer, I have made it my mission to preserve these holdings and save them from decay in order to preserve a cultural heritage for future generations. In addition to restoration, there is also repair and conservation.”
