Pil\u00adgrimage and pil\u00adgrimage tra\u00addi\u00adti\u00adon are clo\u00adse\u00adly lin\u00adked to Rein Abbey. Short\u00adly after the monas\u00adtery was foun\u00added, the Cis\u00adter\u00adci\u00adans were also ent\u00adrus\u00adted with the care of the Maria Stras\u00adsen\u00adgel sanc\u00adtua\u00adry (1129\/1155). Pil\u00adgrimage to Rein Abbey: Rein Key of Grace<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A direc\u00adti\u00adve from Pope Six\u00adtus in 1479 allo\u00adwed the abbey church, which was other\u00adwi\u00adse clo\u00adsed to the public, to be ope\u00adned on White Sun\u00adday. In ear\u00adlier times, the church was only available to the mon\u00adks, while the public ser\u00advice was held in the Geor\u00adgi\u00adk\u00ada\u00adpel\u00adle, which no lon\u00adger exists today, in front of the abbey gate (whe\u00adre the war memo\u00adri\u00adal stands today). And the faithful did not miss this oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty. In remem\u00adbrance and as a gift of grace, small keys were min\u00adted and atta\u00adched to the rosa\u00adry. The repu\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon of the keys of grace went far bey\u00adond the regi\u00adon. They are still available today in the monas\u00adtery shop of the abbey.
On \u201cWhite Sun\u00adday\u201d, the Sun\u00adday after Eas\u00adter, this holi\u00adday is cele\u00adbra\u00adted in the abbey with a solemn ser\u00advice, mee\u00adtings of the sur\u00adroun\u00adding paris\u00adhes and a church fair. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 1453, the so-cal\u00adled Ulrich\u00adskir\u00adche was con\u00adse\u00adcra\u00adted on a hill abo\u00adve Rein Abbey by the papal lega\u00adte Aene\u00adas Sil\u00advio Pic\u00adco\u00adlo\u00admi\u00adni (later Pope Pius II). To this day, it is a popu\u00adlar excur\u00adsi\u00adon and pil\u00adgrimage desti\u00adna\u00adti\u00adon not far from the abbey. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Legend has it that Mar\u00adgra\u00adve Otto\u00adkar brought the image of Mary vene\u00adra\u00adted in Stra\u00ad\u00dfen\u00adgel from a cru\u00adsa\u00adde in Jeru\u00adsa\u00adlem. The image curr\u00adent\u00adly vene\u00adra\u00adted shows Mary as a girl in a long, blue dress embro\u00adide\u00adred with gol\u00adden ears of grain, held tog\u00ade\u00adther by a gol\u00adden belt. Her long, blon\u00adde hair is loo\u00adse. She stands on a flower mea\u00addow. The back\u00adground is a rust-brown, star-cover\u00aded sky. The depic\u00adtion is cal\u00adled \u201cMadon\u00adna in a Gar\u00adment of Grain\u201d. The mira\u00adcu\u00adlous image, which now has its place on the high altar, is a copy of the image from the 14th\/15th cen\u00adtu\u00adry, which was sto\u00adlen from the church in 1976 and was made by the artist Gott\u00adfried H\u00f6f\u00adler. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Maria Stra\u00ad\u00dfen\u00adgel Pil\u00adgrimage Church: ROOT CROSS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A chro\u00adnic\u00adle of Rein Abbey from the 14th cen\u00adtu\u00adry reports that a she\u00adp\u00adherd guard\u00aded his catt\u00adle near the Cha\u00adpel of Grace around the year 1255. When the ani\u00admals show\u00aded unu\u00adsu\u00adal rest\u00adless\u00adness under a fir tree, he inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adted and found the image of the Cru\u00adci\u00adfied One gro\u00adwing out of a root: the head with an open mouth, head and beard hair made of fine root fibers and a struc\u00adtu\u00adred body with arms stret\u00adched out for cru\u00adci\u00adfi\u00adxi\u00adon and crossed feet were cle\u00adar\u00adly reco\u00adgnizable. The she\u00adp\u00adherd repor\u00adted his find to the Abbot of Rein, who in turn infor\u00admed the Arch\u00adbi\u00adshop of Salz\u00adburg. He went to Rein. In his and the abbo\u00adt\u2019s pre\u00adsence, with many peo\u00adp\u00adle as spec\u00adta\u00adtors, the image was detached from the root and trans\u00adfer\u00adred to the church. This find was soon regard\u00aded as a mira\u00adcu\u00adlous event and has been vene\u00adra\u00adted ever sin\u00adce.
